On the Record policy

It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Fire calls

Wednesday, Feb. 17

10:02 a.m. False alarm at 250 East Arapahoe.

2:42 p.m. Trees on fire during a controlled burn near King Road.

3:02 p.m. Vehicle wreck at mile marker 123 Highway 20 South.

Sheriff’s department

Wednesday, Feb. 17

3:00 p.m. A Fedex truck and a pickup pulling a camper collided at milepost 124 on Hwy. 20 S. The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital and cited for failure to yield. The accident was turned over to highway patrol.

9:30 p.m. A young female was reported as a runaway. The juvenile was located and returned home.

Friday, Feb. 19

10:52 p.m. A vehicle hit the guardrail at milepost 127 on Hwy. 20 S. The female driver had a medical episode which caused the accident. No injuries were reported and the car was able to be driven.

Saturday, Feb. 20

1:31 p.m. There was a report of a woman taking pictures of vacant property. Officers were unable to locate the woman.

Police department

Wednesday, Feb. 17

11:11 a.m. There was a report of someone trying to get into a building in the 400 block of North 7th St. No damage was found.

Thursday, Feb. 18

2:23 p.m. There was a no contact order in place when a person attempted to make contact through a third party. Information was sent to the county attorney.

Friday, Feb. 19

10:31 a.m. A report of credit card fraud was made and is still under investigation.

5:47 p.m. An individual reported a computer repair person locked her computer and told her she had to pay $300 to have it unlocked. The individual took care of all financial things and did not pay the $300.

7:11 p.m. A report of two people who had been in a relationship arguing over vehicle ownership. They were advised it was a civil matter and agreed to separate.

Monday, Feb. 22

10:20 p.m. There was a noise complaint at a local motel. The occupants were contacted and agreed to quiet down.

Births

Nora Ray Ryan was born Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Kristin and Matt Ryan of Thermopolis.

She weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long.

Grandparents are Ron and Kathy Gorder of Estelline, S.D., and Tom and Liz Ryan of Thermopolis.

Connor Mark Abel was born Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Brenna and Aaron Abel of Worland.

He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

Grandparents are Mark and Becky Dooley of Worland and Jan and Jonna Abel of Ten Sleep.
