 Etta Mayer

Etta Faye Mayer, 102, died October 18, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis.

Born December 28, 1912, in Cozad, Neb., she was one of eight children of Jesse and Olivia (Barham) Linn. The family moved to Kansas where Etta graduated from high school.

In 1935 she married Ralph Mayer in Kansas. In the early 1940’s the couple and their family moved to Rawlins, Wyo. Following her husband’s death, Etta moved to Baggs in 1981 to be closer to family. In 2003 she moved to the Wyoming Pioneer Home where she remained active and enjoyed friends and family.

In her younger years she worked as a nurse’s aide at a nursing home. She was an avid reader, history buff, artist, photographer and enjoyed games. She was a member of the Methodist Church and later attended the Episcopal Church.

Loved ones surviving include her son, Elvin (Cindy) of Thermopolis; sister, Myrtle Fraiser of Loveland, Colo .; grandchildren, Aime (Eric) Kay of Thermopolis, Gail (Susan) Mayer of Belfouche, Neb., Joy (Joe) Sheehan of Gillette, Wyo., Ron (Pia) of Arlington, Va., Dennis (Kristen) of Arlington, Mike (Valene) of Craig, Colo., and Mark (Steve) of Tulsa, Okla .; ten great-grandchildren; and twelve great, great-grandchildren. 

Etta was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Lyle and Ronald; and numerous sisters and brothers.

Memorial services are pending in November at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
