Robert Lee Richter

Robert Lee Richter, 60, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Hot Springs County Hospital after battling cancer.

Born November 12, 1954, in Scottsbluff, Neb., he was one of four sons born to Robert LaVern and Patricia Ann (Patterson) Richter. During high school he played football as a punter and kicker being able to kick 60 yards. In basketball he played in the 1974 championship. 

Following school he entered the US Army serving in Frankfurt, Germany, Hanau, Duran and stateside for a total of 14 years. While still in the service he married Gladys Marie Cable in Thermopolis in 1977. 

After the service he worked for Ryan Brother’s Trucking for 20 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, carpentry and being with his family. Bob was lovingly known as a prankster and practical joker. 

He is survived by his mother; his wife of 37 years; sons, Gene Cable and Robby Richter of Thermopolis; daughters, Misty (Anna) Smith of Phoenix, Ariz. and Kristina (Randy) Wallace of Thermopolis; brothers, Alvin (Melina) of Great Falls, Mont., Kenny (Terri) of Helena, Mont. and Leslie of Wyoming: eight grandchildren; and a great grandchild on the way. 

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; father; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorial services were held Monday, June 1, 2015, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Hugo Blotsky, OSB as celebrant. Burial took place at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland.
