HSC unemployment rate has small decrease

Hot Spring County’s unemployment rate decreased slightly between January and February 2015, based on information from the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services.

From March to April of this year, unemployment in the county has decreased from 5.1 percent to 4.5 percent.

The unemployment rate is back at the same mark it started at in January of this year.

Comparatively, from April 2014 to April of this year, unemployment in the county has increased from 4.4 percent to 4.5 percent.

The number of potential employees in the county continues to fluctuate with the availability of jobs.

From April last year to April this year, there are 40 fewer jobs in Hot Springs, decreasing from 2,387 people employed to 2,347. The number of unemployed residents stayed steady at 111.

However, 13 jobs have left town since March of this year.

Hot Springs County’s unemployment rate was higher than the statewide average of 4.2 percent in April.

Hot Spring’s unemployment rate remains below the national average of 5.1 percent.

The nationwide unemployment rate decreased from 5.9 percent to 5.1 percent from April 2014 to April 2015.
