Doris Picholick

March 2, 1920 - April 14, 2015

Doris Aleta Pickolick, 95, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center following a period of declining health. Cremation has taken place and at her request, no services are planned.

Born March 2, 1920, in Dodson, Mont., she was the daughter of Carl and Merle (Edmonds) Swanke. She attended Harlowton-area schools while growing up and following graduation attended two years at Dillon Normal School. She then taught special needs students in Boulder, Mont. for five years.

On June 16, 1944, she married Andrew Pickolick in Butte, Mont.  The couple lived in Great Falls, Mont. and later in Helena, Mont.  Following retirement they lived on a small acreage north of Missoula. In 2012 Doris moved to Thermopolis to be near her daughter and family.

She was a member of Royal Neighbors, Arlee Senior Citizens and the United Methodist Church in Missoula.  Her interests included crocheting, knitting, shopping and traveling.

 Loved ones surviving include her daughter, Terri (Bill) Williams of Thermopolis; granddaughter, Dr. Kacie (Travis) Gallo of Lander; grandson, Michael Pauli of Salem, Ore. and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005; twin grandsons, Sean and Marshall and one brother.

 Memorials may be sent in Doris’ name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
