On the Record policy

It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Fire calls

Wednesday, April 1

7:52 a.m. Firefighters responded to an accident on Missouri Flat Road.

Friday, April 3

12:35 p.m. Firefighters responded to a vehicle accident at Shopko.

12:48 p.m. Firefighters responded to a HAZMAT call at the East River Road boat ramp.

Sunday, April 5

10:42 p.m. Firefighters responded to a lift assist at 401 Park Street.

Sheriff’s office

Tuesday, March 31

3:59 p.m. A wreck occurred at the 600 block of Amoretti. A 4-door sedan was hit by a pickup truck.

Wednesday, April 1

7:50 a.m. A single vehicle rollover occurred when a car hit gravel and the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Thursday, April 2

8:15 p.m. Deputies were called to the scene of a domestic dispute to assist police. One of the people in the argument was served a court summons for interference with a police officer.

Friday, April 3

1:46 p.m. Two men were arguing because one of the men was working on a ditch near the other mans property. Deputies were called and the men calmed down.

Saturday, April 4

10:25 a.m. A two-vehicle accident occurred when a tanker truck pulling a tank pup collided with a semi truck in a gas station parking lot.

Monday, April 6

4:47 p.m. A woman reported her gun stolen from her storage unit.

Police calls

Tuesday, March 31

7:40 a.m. A lady called the police because she had found fingerprints on her car. When police went to investigate, they found the fingerprints to be similar to those made by someone sitting in the car with their hand on the roof.

10:50 a.m. Police received a report of suspected fraud. A phone caller was leaving messages on a persons phone saying if they didn’t pay their debt then they would be arrested.

12:47 p.m. Police received a call from a man who said he and his wife had split ways and now his stuff was all on a trailer outside.

10:05 p.m. Police responded to an unsecured premises on the 700 block of Broadway.

Wednesday, April 1

6:06 a.m. An officer investigated a loud disturbance in an alley. People were informed the next offense would result in a ticket.

7:15 a.m. A storage unit near Pizza Hut was found open. Police contacted the owner and they closed the unit.

Thursday, April 2

2:04 p.m. Police received a call about a neighbor with a dirty yard. The yard owner was asked to clean up their yard.

6:59 p.m. A caller contacted police because they suspected a case of fraud. Someone had been offering them discounted pharmaceuticals over the phone. When an officer arrived to talk to the caller, they told the officer that the matter was taken care of.

Friday, April 3

8:38 a.m. Police received a call about an orange jail jumpsuit found behind the town shop. The owner of the jumpsuit had been released from jail with it on because they had had no other clothes to wear when released. The jumpsuit was probably thrown away.

9:22 a.m. Lara Halbert, 33, was arrested on a petition to revoke bond.

10:35 a.m. Police received a call about a landlord who had taken a bucket of cat food out of one of her tenant’s yards. When officers spoke with the landlord, she claimed that she had taken the food because it was against the rules to feed stray cats on the property.

7:56 p.m. Police received a report of someone pulling their truck over and removing a rifle from it. When police arrived on the scene there was no one matching that description.

Saturday, April 4

6:07 p.m. A woman reported her dog stolen out of her car at McDonald’s.

Sunday, April 5

11:54 a.m. Police received a report of an attempted burglary at the TePee Pool. The door seemed to have been pried on, but there was no sign of entry.

6:40 p.m. People left a local restaurant without paying for their food. A Highway Patrol officer caught them south of town and escorted them back to the restaurant where they paid for their food.

Monday, April 6

8:43 a.m. When a man got out of jail he was not able to locate his truck. He later got his truck.

4:47 p.m. A person called the police about an RV they saw with a gas can under it. Police investigated and the owner told them the gas can was there because the RV was leaking.

Circuit court

Lara Halbert had her bond set at $1,500 more than her original bond following a bond revocation.

District court

Colton Lapp was sentenced to 24 days in jail with 24 suspended, had his fines of $30,000 reinstated, and was reinstated six years of supervised probation.
