Library week activities

April 12-18 marks National Library Week across the country and there will be plenty going on at Hot Springs County Library.

Head librarian Tracey Kinnaman said they will be having a “Name the Grizz” contest to get library patrons, both young and old, involved in naming the big guy.

The bear was donated last spring and Merlin Heinze with Merlin’s Hide Out tanned the hide.

“Whichever name is chosen, that person will win two tickets to the Donkey Basketball game,” Kinnaman said.

The library will be waiving fines all week and providing cookies and coffee, courtesy of Friends of the Library.

There is also a cart load of books they will be selling by popular authors, so everyone is encouraged to come down, take a look and buy a book.

A raffle will be held during the week for three books, one for adults, one for young adults and one for children.

Stop in and play “First Lines,” where you draw a slip of paper out of a jar that has just the first line of a book written on it. If you can guess the name of the book based on just that first line, you win a prize.
