Hot Springs County Commissions signed a resolution establishing fire restrictions for Hot Springs County on Tuesday. Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department Lieutenant Clint Huckfeldt explained the resolution stating that the commissioners are empowered by the state of Wyoming to close areas to fire when fire danger in the County is extreme because of the presence of any excessive amount of flammable material or for any other sufficient reason and drought. Though responding to several calls throughout the past week, The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department had a few of note over a three-day stretch. It was with much anticipation that I was able to attend alumni weekend in Thermopolis this year. Old friends are the best friends and we were all so pleased to renew these friendships and share our memories, as well as catch up with all that was new in the lives of our friends. Pamela Crissman, 68, of Riverton passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Sage West Hospital in Riverton. Pamela Sue Franks was born May 19, 1948, in Thermopolis, Wyo., to George Wesley and Margaret Mae (King) Franks. T.F. “Tex” Kinsey, 89, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, at the Worland Healthcare Center. One of 12 children, Tex was born June 14, 1927, in Balko, Okla., to John LeRoy and Stella (Ballard) Kinsey. Tex served abroad in the U.S. Army in special services. In 1953, he married Virginia Fern Lahey in Casper where the couple remained until moving to Hyattville in the 1980s. The Boys Scouts of America Troop 5020 will be washing cars Saturday at the Hot Springs County High School drop off, 231 Park Street, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Washes are priced at $15, with full detailing available for $30. The community is asked to come and support the troop, and there will be free ice-cold lemonade with every wash. The Gift of the Waters Pageant Days begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 6-7 at Hot Springs State Park. This year will celebrate the 120th year since the signing of the treaty. The treaty was signed on April 21, 1986 by Chief Washakie of the Shoshones and Chief Sharp Nose of the Arapaho at Fort Washakie.
