    A Wisconsin couple has been transported back to Hot Springs County to await charges related to the theft of 2007 Saturn passenger van. The Thermopolis Police Department utilized social media to alert the community about the theft, as well as security video footage which shows the couple pulling up to the van in a green Dodge, also reportedly stolen from Worland, getting in the can and driving off headed south.   • Theft may keep flags from flying on Memorial Day

    A sight that has become something of a staple in Thermopolis the last few years, Hawk's Avenue of Flags, may not be on display this Memorial Day due to the theft of four flags and poles. The theft was discovered on Monday when sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. a bag containing the flags, a note and $311.50 was found outside the VFW.     Monday afternoon, Hot Springs District Court saw three subjects sentenced to probation. Ambra O’Brien was sentenced to five years supervised probation for possession of a controlled substance. The charge stems from a July 1 incident, during which O’Brien was found to have Oxycodone. O’Brien was picked up after a report came in of her walking down the center line of Highway 20.     We may only be near the end of May, but the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department is already thinking about the 4th of July fireworks display and are unfortunately coming up short. According to fire chief Mark Collins, it takes about $12,000 to create a 20-30 minute display.     Registrations are now closed for the Hot City Summer Slam 3-on-3 basketball tournament May 26 and 27 in the Hot Springs County High School parking lot.     Jump Rope For Heart is a national education and fundraising events sponsored by the American Heart Association and the Society of Health and Physical Educators.     Alberta Irene Robertson, 84, passed away on May 13, 2018, at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin. Alberta was born on July 5, 1933, to Albert Gabriel and Alice Lillian (Veitch) Irene. She graduated from University High School in Laramie. She attended 2 years of college at UW. On June 19, 1953, she married Rex Ramsey. To this union were born two sons, Dan and Jim.
