    As of Wednesday morning, the Thermopolis Police Department reported Jeremy Breeden was still at large. Breeden is wanted out of Kansas for attempted first-degree murder and is believed to be in the Thermopolis area. According to a Kansas news station, Breeden, his brother Cody and a third, unidentified subject are suspects in connection with the attempted murder of 19-year-old Trenton Penn of Minneapolis, Kan., who was found at a hotel in Junction City, Kan. on March 29.   • Event funding being phased out

    Those attending a meeting Monday night regarding the funding provided to special events from Hot Springs Travel and Tourism learned those funds will be reduced by 25 percent each of the forthcoming fiscal years. This means the funding will be completely gone by the summer of 2021.     My husband and I attended the Zaniac comedy show at the HSC high school auditorium and we were delighted to see so much audience participation. Adults as well as children were filled with enthusiasm and excitement. The Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation has done a phenomenal job of providing Thermopolis residents with great cultural and learning opportunities which we have very much enjoyed. She was born at the family farm near Shelbina, Mo., on November 20, 1920, to Myrtle Elizabeth (Moore) and Paul Matthias Tanner. Lila graduated from Thermopolis High School.     The Hot Springs Veterinary Clinic will hold its annual rabies clinic on Wednesday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This provides an opportunity to get your pet’s vaccination up-to-date, though if you can’t make it on that day or need your pet examined, call the office at 864-5553 to make an appointment for the same fees sometime the week of the clinic.     Last week saw the Hot Springs County High School track team at two events, with the Riverton Twilight on April 19 and the Lovell Invite on April 21. During the latter of the two events, Haley McDermott set a new school record with a fifth place height of 8'7" in the pole vault. The previous record of 8'6" was set in 2001 by Jaimee Willis.
