About Thermopolis Independent Record

The Thermopolis Independent Record (IR) hit the presses in 1901, establishing itself as the news source to turn to for information in Hot Springs County.

The Independent Record traces its roots to two newspapers, the Thermopolis Record and the Thermopolis Independent, which merged to form the paper that serves the residents of Hot Springs County.

For decades, the Hot Springs County Commissioners have named the Independent Record the official newspaper of Hot Springs County.

Focusing on local news, the Independent Record covers a variety of news including Town Council meetings, school board meetings and all of the entertainment and activities going on in the area.

Current circulation for the Independent Record is 2,300 copies each week, with an online edition as well as a Facebook page featuring a plethora of photographs from various gatherings and school activities each week.

The Independent Record was purchased by Louis Mullen in 2014.
