Lady Cats perform well on the road

The Hot Springs County High School Lady Cats track team traveled to Lander on April 9 for the Twilight Event and then to Rawlins on April 12 to compete in the Nancy Steinburg Invitational. In the early season action, the Lady Cats finished fourth with 61 points at Lander and third with 69 points at Rawlins.

Highlights from Lander include:

Davdine King second in the 100 meter dash, 13.20; second in the 400 meter dash,1:03.20; first in high jump, 4-11.00 and second in long jump, 15-04.00.

Ina King seventh in the 100 meter dash, 13.98 and first in triple jump, 34-09.25.

Brooklynn Williams third in the 400 meter dash, 1:06.07 and fourth in pole vault, 7-06.00.

Highlights from Rawlins include:

Davdine King first place in the 100 meter dash, 13.12; first in the 200 meter dash, 27.21 and first in the 400 meter run, 1:01.72.

Ina King in first place in the triple jump, 33-07.50.

Brooklynn Williams fourth place in the 400 meter run, 1:06.20 and second in pole vault, 8-00.00.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the team finished third, with a time of 57.89, Merika Amend, Brooklyn Williams, Kaia Galovich and Ina King.

In the 1600 sprint medley, the team finished first, with a time of 5:04.28, Ina King, Merika Amend, Davdine King and Brooklyn Williams.

Coach Boone Bowker is pleased with how the season is going for the Lady Cats, and commented, “The girls have been very competitive this year, particularly when you consider that the roster is limited in numbers - which means we have to strategically determine, from meet to meet, the particular events in which to place entries.”

This week the Lady Cats will, again, be on the road to compete in Shoshoni on Friday, April, 19.
