On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Highway Patrol

Thursday, April 11

5:19 p.m. Jordan Roy Annis, 54, from Casper, was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, marijuana and interference with a peace officer.

Friday, April 12

3:15 p.m. Joshua Hellyer, 44, from Worland, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence and speeding.

Monday, April 8

1:15 p.m. Deputies responded to a family fight in the Sessions Lane area.

Wednesday, April 10

12:24 p.m. Report of possible elder exploitation. The matter was determined to be unfounded.

Friday, April 12

3:08 p.m. Fredrick Jaque Yeaman, 61, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, reckless driving and not driving in a single lane.

Saturday, April 13

2 a.m. Report of an accidental 911 hang-up. Everyone was okay.

Sunday, April 14

4:25 p.m. Report of a check stolen from the mail. The amount is unknown.

Police Department

Tuesday, April 9

8:19 p.m. Report of a suspicious activity involving a footprint from a kick on a door in the 500 block of Clark Street. The matter is under investigation.

Wednesday, April 10

12:31 p.m. Report of a vehicle accident in the high school parking lot. 

1:24 p.m. Report of an 18-year-old male student who was caught with a nicotine vape while at Hot Springs County High School. The male student was cited for possession of nicotine tobacco. 

7:54 p.m. An intoxicated 17-year-old juvenile male was brought into the Law Enforcement Center, where he was safely observed and supervised until his parents arrived to bring him home. The male was cited for minor in possession of alcohol.

Thursday, April 11

11:13 a.m. Report of a male harassing and threatening a female on social media. 

Friday, April 12

1:06 p.m. Report of a hit and run involving damage to a Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office parked patrol vehicle in the 1200 block of Canyon Hills Road. 

3:08 p.m. Agency assist for the Sheriff’s Office. 

Saturday, April 13

7:02 p.m. Report of a nuisance animal problem and suspicious activity in the 700 block of Big Horn Street. The animal owners were contacted and warned for their consistent barking dog, feces-infested yard, and animals commonly being at large as a final warning. Owners advised they understood and would work on the property. The property will continue to be an open investigation for suspicious activity. 

Sunday, April 14

9:19 a.m. A female report a male in her apartment assaulted her and threatened her with a hammer as she was locked inside of the bathroom for her safety. Police arrived and made entry into the apartment to discover that the female was potentially off her medications and hallucinating. A family member was contacted to assist her with transport to the hospital.

5:37 p.m. Report of two dogs running at large in the 100 block of Fremont Street. The owner was contacted, and the dogs returned.

7:10 p.m. A 56-year-old male driver was stopped and cited for failure to provide insurance, signal required 100 feet before turn, and warned for following too close.

Bird, driving under the influence of alcohol, equal to or greater than .08% within two hours of driving, second offense within 10 years, 180 days jail, 171 days suspended, three years supervised probation, fees and fines $420 and possession of a controlled substance, powder or crystals, three grams or less, 180 days jail, 163 days suspended, one year supervised probation, fees and fines $220, and defraud drug and alcohol test: possession of adulterants, first offense, and not guilty for use of a controlled substance, Schedule I, II or III,
