Track season opens

And, just like that, it’s track season! Hopefully, that means Mother Nature is finished with the cold and snow. Being as this is Wyoming, however, we know better than to hold our breath on that subject.

The Bobcat track teams opened their season in Pavillion last Saturday with both the Bobcats and Lady Cats setting the scene for a great season to come. Twelve schools were in competition at the Wind River Icebreaker, competing in seventeen events for the boys teams, and the same number of events for the girls teams.

Lady Cats

At meet’s end, the Lady Cats had earned a respectable 66.5 team points, which earned them a 5th place finish.

Davdine King led the highlights, finishing in 1st place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.14, 1st in long jump with 17 feet 2.75 inches and tied for 1st in high jump with a jump of 4 feet 11 inches.

Brooklynn Williams finished 8th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.35 and 2nd in the 400 Meter Dash (1:09.15).

Ava Dafoe finished 10th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 20:00.00.

The Lady Cats finished 2nd in the 4x400 meter relay, with a time of 4:31.76 (Lily Quintanilla, Merika Amend, Brooklynn Williams and Davdine King).

In the 4x800 meter relay, the Lady Cats finished 3rd, with a time of 12:09.67 (Lily Quintanilla, Ella Slover, Brooklynn Williams and Merika Amend).

Ina King came in 2nd in the triple jump at 34-00.00.

Bobcats

The boys team finished the meet in second place with a total team score of 111 points and placing in the upper echelons of every event.

Event results are, as follows:

100 meter dash: 6th Delmonico Dukes, 12.46; 9th Cody Bomengen, 12.56; 10th Zane Stam 12.57.

200 meter dash: 3rd Robert Buckner, 25.35; 3rd Delmonico Dukes, 25.35; 7th Cody Bomengen, 25.61; 10th Zane Stam, 26.34.

400 meter dash: 7th Chris Arends, 58.97; 7th Ryan Arends, 58.97; 9th Jordan Garrison,1:00.10.

800 meter run: 6th Logan Dafoe, 2:25.25.

1600 meter run: 4th Jadeth Elder. 5:11.87.

3200 meter run: 3rd Jadeth Elder, 10:56.60; 8th Michael Stevens, 13:43.55.

100 meter hurdles: 6th Davian Martinez, 21.24.

300 meter hurdles: 5th Davian Martinez, 50.19.

4x100 meter relay: 2nd, 51.72 (Anthony Cheatham, Zane Stam, James Whitt and Jarek Jeffs).

4x400 meter relay: 3rd, 3:54.30 (Chris Arends, Ryan Arends, Logan Dafoe and Dyllan Meyers).

4x800 meter relay: 1st, 9:15.19 (Chris Arends, Ryan Arends, Logan Dafoe and Dyllan Meyers).

1600 meter sprint medley: 2nd, 4:16.28 (Delmonico Dukes, Jordan Garrison, Jarek Jeffs and Nolan Collins.

High jump: 3rd Cody Bomengen, 5-08.00; 7th Davien Martinez, 5-04.00.

Long jump: 2nd Robert Buckner, 18-01.00; 6th Delmonico Dukes, 17-02.75; 8th Ryan Arends, 17-02.25; 9th Nolan Collins, 17-00.50.

Triple jump: 1st Cody Bomengen, 39-10.75; 6th Jaye Christensen, 36-05.50; 8th Logan Dafoe, 35-10.00.

Shot put: 5th Anthony Cheatham, 37-08.50; 7th Zane Stam, 34-05.75.

Discus throw: 9th Jarek Jeffs, 102-07.75.

Next up for the tracksters will be the Burlington Invitational Track Meet on March 29.
