On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Monday, March 4

11:04 a.m. Deputies opened an investigation into a bad check that was written.

Tuesday, March 5

6:46 p.m. Deputies investigated the report of littering.

7:36 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Wednesday, March 6

5:42 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Thursday, March 7

10:56 a.m. Report of a possible stolen vehicle. The deputies investigated and the vehicle was found to not be stolen and the owner was advised that the issue was civil. 

4:32 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Friday, March 8

11:12 a.m. Agency assist for Probation and Parole with a home check.

1:41 p.m. Report of a traffic complaint involving a semi cattle truck south of town.

1:50 p.m. Agency assist for Probation and Parole with a home check.

3:06 p.m. Deputies responded to an address after 911 was dialed. All persons appeared to be fine at the property. The caller said that they accidentally dialed 911. 

9:40 p.m. Ambulance assist for Emergency Medical Services.

2:52 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Monday, March 4

11:12 a.m. Report of suspected controlled substances found inside of an impounded vehicle in the 100 block of North 6th Street. 

11:13 a.m. An officer located a partially dumped load of bentonite in the 300 block of North 6th Street. The town crew came and cleaned it up. 

11:10 a.m. Report of a runaway juvenile female from Fremont County. Information was provided to Thermopolis Police Department that the juvenile female may be in Thermopolis with her boyfriend. Law Enforcement was unable to locate her in the town.

Tuesday, March 5

7:36 p.m. Report of a disturbance in the 500 block of South 6th Street. An intoxicated male was contacted and led home across the street, where he was no longer a disturbance. 

Wednesday, March 6

10:31 a.m. A 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were cited for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana. 

5:42 p.m. A traffic stop was performed on juveniles from Worland, Wyo., who were discovered to be leaving their home town without permission. These juveniles were in possession of tobacco, alcohol, and controlled substances. Parents for each juvenile responded from Worland to pick up their children from the joint law enforcement center. The 17-year-old female driver was cited for careless driving, or windshield with an obstructed view, expired driver’s license, underage possession of alcohol, possession of nicotine, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, and turn signal required. 

Thursday, March 7

4:32 p.m. Report of a juvenile male who threw a fit for having to clean the back yard. The male’s parents left a note on his bedroom door asking for the yard work to be done after coming home from school.

Friday, March 8

9:49 a.m. An adult male reported trespassing signs were missing from his property in the 500 block of Warren Street. 

11:12 a.m. Stephanie Larson, 33, was arrested for allegedly being in possession of meth. Possible other charges are pending. 

5:06 p.m. A lost wallet was turned in to the law enforcement center. The wallet was returned shortly after to its owner. 

Saturday, March 9 

2:52 p.m. Report of marijuana use that occurred in the 300 block of Broadway Street. The property owner was contacted and four Colorado females were removed from an Airbnb property. 

8:13 p.m. Report of a dog running at large in the 300 block of South 2nd Street. One brown medium-size dog was collected and transported to the Hot Springs County Vet Clinic. 

Sunday, March 10

2:24 p.m. Report of a dog running at large in the 400 block of Park Street. One German Shepherd was collected and transported to the Hot Springs Vet Clinic. 

Circuit Court

Gerald Frazer, driving while under the influence of alcohol, incapable of safely driving, first offense within 10 years, 30 days jail, 27 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $320.

Ronald Fraser, possession of a controlled substance, plant, three ounces or less, 30 days jail, 30 days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $400.

Birth

Hallie Howe was born at 10:03 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Hot Springs Health to Makinna and Caleb Howe.

She weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long.

Grandparents are Joe and Renee Gnerer and Cole and Cindy Howe.
