On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, Feb. 12

4 p.m. Brett Dunning, 34, from Casper was placed in the detention center from Natrona County on a Hot Springs County warrant for driving while under the influence. 

Tuesday, Feb. 13

11 a.m. Timothy David Beason, 31, from Cowley, Wyo., was transported from Casper and arrested on a warrant. The original charges were for possession of a controlled substance. 

11:06 a.m. Jeffery Scot Averill, 27, was arrested for alleged probation sanction. 

1 p.m. Deputies responded to a request for a civil standby.

2:07 p.m Report of sexual contact in front of a juvenile. After the investigation, this was determined to be unfounded.

11:32 a.m. Report of a verbal fight between mother and son. It is a civil matter.

Thursday, Feb. 15

3:35 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of a dog running at large in East Thermopolis. The dog was not located, but the suspected owner was contacted and said his dog did get out but he had it back home. The Sheriff’s Office is unable to enforce town ordinance for dogs at large. 

4:21 p.m. Agency assist for Highway Patrol on a motor vehicle crash with injuries.

Friday, Feb. 16

1:44 a.m. Agency assist for the Police Department with a call for service. A deputy received injuries from a person while performing their duties on this call. 

4:01 p.m. Deputies provided a civil standby for a custody dispute.

Saturday, Feb. 17 

11:50 a.m. Report of a subject who was caught on camera entering a garage in Kriby. Deputies made contact with the subject and determined no criminal activity was involved. The subject was looking at vehicles to potentially purchase.

5:27 p.m. Ambulance assist with a medical call.

8:13 p.m. Report of a vehicle vs. deer accident at mile marker 140 on Highway 20 North.

Sunday, Feb. 18

2:19 p.m. Report of a welfare check on an elderly female.

10:42 a.m. Deputies provided a civil standby for an individual to obtain their belongings. 

8:14 p.m. Report of a welfare check on a subject who was determined to be ok.

Police Department

Monday, Feb. 12

6:01 a.m. Report of a noise disturbance and yelling that occurred in the 400 block of Park Street. 

9:51 a.m. A female dog was found running at large in the 1400 block of Broadway. The dog was returned to its owner. 

4:25 p.m. Report of threatening activity that occurred in the 500 block of Shoshoni Street. A 33-year-old male was trespassed from a restaurant. 

Tuesday, Feb. 13

3:15 p.m. A 22-year-old female was cited in the 1300 block of Clark Street for her puppy running at large.

Wednesday, Feb. 14

9:53 a.m. Report of a domestic dispute in the 600 block of Maiden Street. This argument was verbal and the female party was referred to Safe Haven and assisted in leaving the property. 

3:33 p.m. Michael Sunrhodes, 35, was arrested on a Federal warrant and is awaiting transport by the US Marshals. The original charges are unknown. 

Thursday, Feb. 15

12:04 p.m. Police submitted an arrest warrant for Megan Bird, 28, to the HSC Attorney’s Office. The warrant is pending approval by the HSC Circuit Court judge. The original charges were for driving while under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

1:33 p.m. Police submitted an arrest warrant for Howard Haagensen, 56, to the HSC Attorney’s Office. The warrant is pending approval by the HSC Circuit Court judge. The original charges were for driving while under the influence with injuries. 

10:06 p.m. Agency assist for Probation and Parole to perform a compliance check on a 29-year-old female in the 1300 block of Canyon Hills. A home search was performed. Lock boxes were seized on scene and later opened where controlled substances were located. 

Friday, Feb. 16

1:44 a.m. Report of a physical fight between three adult males at a motel in the 100 block of East Park Street. Trevor Allen Wales, 31, from Rock Springs was allegedly intoxicated and was arrested for alleged battery, breach of peace, interference with a police officer, and felony interference with a police officer after causing bodily injury while resisting arrest. Another involved party was identified as a 20-year-old male from Rock Springs who was cited for minor in possession and under the influence of alcohol. 

Saturday, Feb. 17 

6:16 p.m. Report of an unattended death of a female.

Sunday, Feb. 18

7:42 p.m. A black lab puppy running at large was collected from a resident in the 700 block of Warren Street. The dog was returned to the owner shortly after the dog was transported to the Vet Clinic. 

Circuit Court

Anjilia Pereda was bound over to District Court for causing bodily injury to a peace officer; interference with a peace officer and breach of peace.

Jade M. Anderson was bound over to District Court for theft: deprive - $1,000 or more or firearm/livestock regardless of value.
