Mary Louise Britting

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Britting. She passed away following a brief illness on Aug. 1, 2023.

Marie was born in Lackawanna, N. Y., on Oct. 7, 1950, and spent her childhood in Hamburg, N. Y. She graduated from Frontier Central High School, class of 1969, and went on to Jamestown Jr. College to become a practical nurse. Eventually Marie relocated to California, graduating from San Francisco City College, as an RN. Marie worked as a nurse at the VA hospital, and as an intensive care nurse during the height of the HIV crisis at San Francisco General. Eventually Marie joined her younger sister Sharon as per diem nurses, traveling throughout the country. Marie loved to travel and readily immersed herself in the cultures and religions of the countries she visited. She was truly a citizen of the world. Her real passion was art. She became an accomplished painter. Upon retirement, Marie moved to Thermopolis with her beloved husband Albert Dubayah, yet continued to work as a nurse on a less intense basis. In 2011, Marie traveled to Florida to care for her younger sister throughout treatment and hospice. Marie enjoyed gardening, she loved animals, music and literature.

Marie is predeceased by husband, Albert; mother, Rita D.; father, Tracy R.; brother, Richard C.; and sister, Sharon.

Marie is survived by brothers, Bill, Tracy and Joseph; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and grand nephews and nieces who refer to her as "the cool Aunt".

Marie will be remembered for the good she saw in people and the compassion and caring she rendered to her patients during more than four decades as a nurse.
