John Daly Hammond

John Daly Hammond was born October 12, 1956, in Farmington, N.M.

His family reported him missing November 11, 2021, and he was declared dead in June 2023. John spent his early childhood in Farmington. When he was a teenager his family moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., graduating in 1974 from Hot Springs County High School. He was active in sports acquiring the nickname John John on the track team. A natural linguist, the Air Force recruited him to study Russian. After his service, he returned to Wyoming never to leave his beloved family. He married Debbie in 2001 and was at her side until her death. As a toddler he taught himself to read by following the bouncing ball while watching TV commercials and became a lifelong reader. He often was seen around town walking the sidewalks and reading a book. He was a man with a big heart and had many, many friends.

He is survived by his brother, David; sister, Georgeanne; Uncle Der and Aunt Ann; nephew, Rob and family; and many, many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Dave and Eileen; his grandparents; and many, many aunts and uncles.

His smile will be missed by everyone he ever met.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials sent to the library in his name will be appreciated. And please, if someone is missing, contact authorities as soon as possible. The wait time could become tragic.
