On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Monday, Oct.  31

1:36 p.m. A juvenile male jumped out of a vehicle at the stoplight while the vehicle was en route to the Boys’ School. The male was located and given a courtesy ride to the school. 

10:29 p.m. Report of a hit and run. The 62-year-old female suspect driver was located and cited for hit and run with bodily injury, hit and run with unattended property damage, reckless driving, and no proof of insurance. Later on, additional charges for citation were given: careless driving hit and run with unattended property damage, and a State Park violation of vehicle off-road.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

10:54 a.m. Report of repossession assistance for a bank involving a pickup truck.

3:48 p.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

9:21 a.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

Thursday, Nov. 3

1:29 p.m. Report of an aggravated assault involving a juvenile male who attacked an adult male and caused property destruction. The juvenile male was temporarily placed into a group home. 

10:15 p.m. A welfare check was requested on an elderly female. The subject no longer lives in this county.

Friday, Nov. 4

7:20 p.m. A driver reported striking a deer with their vehicle on Highway 20 South.

Saturday, Nov. 5

12:36 p.m. Report of a crash on Highway 120 West where a fender broke off of a trailer and crashed into the windshield of the vehicle behind. 

9:39 p.m. Julie Norene Dunham, 41, from Worland, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol and cited for lane use and open container. 

Sunday, Nov. 6

10:20 a.m. Report of suspicious activity involving a caretaker who went to check on a property and the gate had been unlocked. 

5:55 p.m. A driver reported striking a deer with their vehicle on Highway 20 South.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

8:22 a.m. Report of a neighbor who had driven a T-Post next to the reporting party’s cattle guard. 

10:07 a.m. Citizen assist for a bank repossessing a truck, all went without incident.

11:47 a.m. Traffic accident in the high school parking lot between two juvenile females.

3:48 p.m. Michael John Wells, 31, was arrested for alleged domestic assault and interference with a peace officer. Richard Wells, 56, was arrested for an alleged felony charge of strangulation of a household member.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

9:21 a.m. Report of a possible attic fire, smelling smoke, and seeing smoke coming from the vents and gutters in the house. After investigating the property was ok. 

8:59 a.m. Two students were found smoking tobacco cigarettes under the football field bleachers. Both students were cited for Minor in Possession/Use of Tobacco. 

11:27 a.m. Property watch was requested by a local homeowner.

5:09 p.m. A male reported a traffic hazard at the intersection of 5th and Amoretti Street. Upon arrival, a large amount of road base was located approximately 6 inches deep. It was cleaned up by the staff of a local business.

5:22 p.m. Report of lost property in the 600 block of Shoshone involving an elderly female and a wallet containing a large amount of cash. Many attempts were made to contact the female for the report, but law enforcement never got re-contacted. 

11:04 p.m. Arik Arlo Amundson, 30, was arrested for an alleged pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance and open container. This was his alleged fourth offense.

Thursday, Nov. 3

8:35 a.m. Report of a sexual assault. The matter is still under investigation.

Friday, Nov. 4

9:23 p.m. Judy Lynn Pruitt, 29, from Lander, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol, having no insurance, and having no registration. 

Sunday, Nov. 6

3:00 p.m. A two-vehicle traffic accident was reported at a local restaurant parking lot with no injuries. No citations were issued. 

4:16 p.m. Juveniles were reported to be in an empty trailer located at a trailer park. Upon arrival, it was determined that the subjects had a lease agreement and no further action was taken. 

6:40 p.m. Agency assist for the Sheriff’s Office. Civil Court

Melissa Gold, driving while under the influence of alcohol, 18 years or older with a child passenger, first offense, one year unsupervised probation, fees and fines $220.

Arik A. Amundson, pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance on a highway, fees and fines $100.

Weston Burgess, failed to tag big or trophy game animal, fees and fines $250 and hunt, trap, fish or collect antlers/horns on private land without permission, fees and fines $450.

Isaac Mason, driving while license is canceled, suspended, or revoked if not suspended for 31-5-229 or 31-5-233, fees and fines $440.
