Wyo Wednesday and Thermopolis Brewfest

by Suzanne Samelson

Spring and being outside continues to be on our minds. Think Wyo Wednesday on June 2. Think Thermopolis Brewfest on Saturday, June 5.

The June Wyo Wednesday theme from the Wyoming Business Council is “Outside Opportunities” and the month of June is shaping up with many outside opportunities and events locally. June 2 is a perfect day to stroll and shop in downtown and all around the town and Hot Springs County. Enjoy the results from the town-wide clean-up efforts this past week, which included Main Street Thermopolis volunteers out there despite the rain and the extreme wind. Members of the community shared and showed our collective pride as we welcome the tourist season.

Thermopolis Brewfest returns this year on Saturday, June 5. This event is the primary source of local revenue for Main Street Thermopolis and enables the organization to do projects like the decorative lighting, the planters and seating adjacent to the flagpole, the free downtown WiFi, and other initiatives. The Brewfest will take place on Broadway, between 4th and 5th Streets and will run from 4-8 p.m.  Tasting mugs can be purchased by adults 21 years and older for $25.

In addition to the variety of beers from six craft breweries from around Wyoming, there is plenty more planned. Look for food trucks, including a new local one, craft and other vendors, historic downtown tours led by Ray Shaffer, and a corn hole tournament with awesome prizes. Children and their families will enjoy painting on the standing mural. The music line-up has something for everyone. Thermopolis’ own Eric Kay, plus Keith OBrien and Harold Hutson will perform. The music will be headlined by Arterial Drive, from Bozeman. They refer to themselves as “Montana’s Groove Machine”.

I look forward to seeing many of you shopping in downtown and all around the town on Wyo Wednesday, June 2.  And Main Street Thermopolis welcomes you to the Thermopolis Brewfest in downtown on Saturday, June 5.
