Cats get monumental win

With a final score of 56-12 last Friday, Thermopolis got its first win over a Glenrock team in five seasons and improved their conference record to 4-1.

Coach Matt McPhie said, “It was a physical battle on the field all night. Give a lot of credit to the off-season work put in by many of our players. We were more physical up front, and in the end, we wore them down and had a bunch of success on both sides of the ball.

“Offensively, the team had a balanced attack. Duder Harvey completed eight of 13 passes for 185 yards, including two completions to Jarron Mortimore for 65 of those yards. Gavin Shumway added a completion for a 21-yard scoring strike to junior Jesse Skelton.

“The team added 243 yards rushing and were led by Roedy Farrel and Jase Longwell. Farrel had 116 yards rushing with three touchdowns, Longwell added 108 yards and a touchdown. Duder Harvey also had three rushing touchdowns.

“Defensively the team played sound football all evening. Jarron Mortimore controlled the line of scrimmage with great play at the defensive end position. Logan Shumway also did a nice job on the other side of the line. The Bobcat defense rallied to the ball in droves. Logan Cole, Riley Shaffer, and Eli McCumber were in on much of the defensive action all night. Matthew Daniels had a very good game on the defensive line. Cade McLean added another interception to his collection.

The team is headed to Burns for the final game of the regular season this Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
