On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, June 12

5:29 p.m. Deputy responded to an issue between residents in the Red Lane area. The matter was forwarded to the county attorney.

Thursday, June 14

3:42 p.m. Assistance provided to Department of Family Services for a home check.

Friday, June 15

9:07 a.m. Reported violation of a no contact order in Red Lane. The matter was forwarded to the county attorney.

Sunday, June 17

12:56 a.m. Following a traffic stop, Felix Walter was arrested for alleged driving without an interlock device.

2:31 p.m. Report of a one-vehicle accident. The driver was cited for no proof of insurance.

4:05 p.m. Driver cited for reckless driving and exhibition of acceleration.

5:04 p.m. REDDI report, though the suspect vehicle could not be located.

8:39 p.m. Complainant reported a subject banging on vehicles and revving engines. The subject was asked to quiet things down.

Tuesday, June 12

11:07 a.m. Report of a swamp cooler stolen out of a home.

11:48 a.m. A driver was cited for flicking a cigarette out a vehicle window.

2:12 p.m. Report of an internet scam. No money was exchanged.

2:13 p.m. Trespass notice was served on a subject who was on another’s property.

9:24 p.m. Complainant reported juveniles were messing around in his back yard.

Wednesday, June 13

9:56 a.m. Complaint of a barking dog. The owner was contacted and is working on a long-term solution for the issue.

11:14 a.m. REDDI report, during which contact was made with the suspect vehicle and it was determined nobody had been drinking.

2:57 p.m. Howard Haagensen was arrested on a Probation and Parole hold.

6:10 p.m. Report of a semi weaving all over the road. The vehicle was stopped and it was determined the driver was not drinking.

6:49 p.m. Complainant reported a dog was acting aggressively toward her at her home. The dog was chased to its residence, and its owner said people have been harassing the animal and pepper spraying it.

The owner was warned about the dog getting out again, and the animal control officer will continue to monitor.

Thursday, June 14

10:31 a.m. Report of an intoxicated subject. It was determined he had a place to stay and sleep.

3:37 p.m. Officer responded to a dispute between a mother and an adult son, during which property inside the residence was damaged. Nathan M. Thomas was arrested for alleged property destruction.

11:43 p.m. Report of fireworks being set off. Subjects were contacted, advised of the local ordinance and told to stop.

Friday, June 15

3:07 p.m. Report of a juvenile subject left at a business. The subject was reunited with family.

7:31 p.m. Report of fireworks set off, though the responsible party could not be located.

Saturday, June 16

12:35 p.m. Business reported some whiskey had been stolen. Contact was made with the suspect, who denied the theft.

Sunday, June 17

10:27 a.m. Report of a hit and run accident.

3:54 p.m. Complainant reported subjects who appeared suspicious. It was determined the subjects were simply tourists.

6:59 p.m. Report of a belligerent patient at the hospital. The patient was spoken to.

7:54 p.m. Report of fireworks. The responsible parties were spoken to about the town ordinance.

Monday, June 18

4:50 p.m. During an investigation into the proper ownership of a dog, an officer detected an odor of marijuana. Jeffery Averill was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana.

9:30 p.m. Report of smoke. It was determined a subject was burning weeds in his back yard and he agreed to quit.

Stephanie Bower vs. Stuart Bower.

Circuit court

Anthony J. Yelenick was cited for driving under suspension and fined $425.

Robert L. Richter II was found guilty of two counts of use of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 80 days suspension and six months supervised probation. Fees and fines are $255.

Alicea Jones was found guilty of use of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to a year in jail. Fees and fines are $510.
