On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff’s office

Tuesday, May 1

9:06 a.m. Report of a vehicle passing a school bus.

Wednesday, May 2

4:39 p.m. REDDI report, though the suspect vehicle was located and the deputy did not observe any reason to stop it.

Friday, May 4

8:31 p.m. Report of a vehicle passing a school bus. The driver was cited.

Saturday, May 5

10:47 p.m. Complainant reported what sounded like gunshots. Upon further investigation by Wyoming Highway Patrol, it was determined the sound was fireworks.

Sunday, May 6

1:57 a.m. Report of a subject throwing eggs in East Thermopolis. The subject was not throwing eggs, but was cited for expired vehicle registration.

10:14 a.m. Report of an aggressive dog that chased two bicycle riders and nipped them. The owner was contacted and said she had an electric fence collar coming for the dog.

Monday, May 7

10:11 a.m. Report of a subject leaving a business without paying a bill. The subject was contacted and went back and paid.

10:41 a.m. Report of an antelope attacked by dogs. The antelope was put down and the dog owner was warned against future incidents.

Police department

Tuesday, May 1

8:59 a.m. Report of a vehicle passing a school bus. However, the license plate number provided didn’t match the vehicle description.

12:51 p.m. Complainant reported his motorcycle had been moved. There was no damage to the vehicle.

Wednesday, May 2

11:23 a.m. Kayloni A. Good was arrested on a bench warrant for alleged failure to pay child support.

6:34 p.m. Report of kids putting a dog in the dog park and leaving it. The animal was later picked up and impounded.

6:58 p.m. A business proprietor reported two subjects acting suspicious.

Thursday, May 3

3:33 p.m. Report of a lost wallet.

5:26 p.m. Report of a driver aggressively passing a vehicle south of town and causing a rock to fly up and strike the windshield.

7:25 p.m. A subject allegedly violated a court order. The matter was forwarded to the county attorney.

12:57 p.m. Report of a salesman going door to door offering steaks. The subject was advised he needed a permit and he left.

Friday, May 4

1:05 p.m. An officer noticed vehicles were partially blocking an alley and asked the owners to move them.

2:06 p.m. A driver was reported driving at a high speed and passing in no passing zones in Wind River Canyon. The vehicle was followed in town and stopped, and the driver was cited for following too closely, failing to signal a turn and no proof of insurance.

5:15 p.m. Report of a two-vehicle accident in a parking lot. A state accident report was completed.

Saturday, May 5

12:25 p.m. Report of erratic driving in the canyon. The driver was contacted and spoken to, and warned about speeding in town.

4:21 p.m. Complainant reported a subject who is intoxicated. The subject could not be located.

Sunday, May 6

3 p.m. Officer responded to a noise complaint regarding a subject who was drunk and belligerent in his own yard. The subject returned inside.

Monday, May 7

12:57 p.m. A trespass notice was requested and served on a subject.

5:09 p.m. Report of a male and female subject who appeared suspicious. The subjects could not be located.

Circuit court

Nathan M. Thomas was found guilty of driving under the influence and was sentenced to 13 days in jail was 10 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $755.

Joshua Gambozi and Jennifer Gutierrez, both of Thermopolis.

Birth

Benjamin John Flores was born Friday, April 27, 2018, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Megan and Rico Flores of Wyoming.

He weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 21.5 inches long.
