Put your headlights on

I have been going to write this for some time now. Today is the day. On Monday evening of the 30th it was raining pretty hard, that is for Wyoming. I would guess no more than 50 percent of cars and pickups had their headlights on. I don’t mean parking or clearance lights. Also, a Wyoming State Patrol car and local police car was in that group.

In some areas of Wyoming there are highway signs that say to drive with lights on for safety reasons. Why not everywhere? I have driven all over the U.S.A. in my 60-plus years of driving and don’t understand why it’s so hard to understand that headlights serve two purposes, to see and to be seen. A few seconds can make a big difference.

Just look ahead in not so perfect conditions and see how much quicker you see oncoming traffic. Not only in rain, but snow, fog and late evening hours.
