Senior companions sought

If you’re a caring individual looking for some way to help others, the senior companion program may be just what you’re looking for.

Senior companions serve adults aged 21 and over who need help in order to remain living independently at home.

You receive training to assist with all kinds of tasks, such as simple chores around the home that are essential, but sometimes impossible for the home bound person to handle on their own.

Companions receive a tax free stipend of $2.65 per hour, meal and mileage reimbursement, an annual physical exam, educational training, supplemental auto and personal liability insurance as well as formal recognition activities for their volunteer service.

To be a companion, you must be 55-years old or older on a limited income if you wish to receive the stipend.

For more information on the program, please contact Trenda at the senior center at 864-2151.
