On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff’s office

Tuesday, Jan. 16

1:50 p.m. A deputy was called to assist with a probation check. The matter is under investigation.

Wednesday, Jan. 17

8:26 p.m. A female subject’s vehicle was stuck, though her friend was able to get it out.

Friday, Jan. 19

8:52 a.m. Report of suspicious activity in the White Sulphur Springs area. Blood was found and it appeared something was slid toward the river. Upon further investigation, a deputy determined it was blood from an animal that was killed by another.

Saturday, Jan. 20

1:21 p.m. Shane L. Boren was arrested for alleged failure to appear.

10:32 p.m. Report of a suspicious male looking through the windows of a business.

Monday, Jan. 22

12:42 p.m. Report of a “No Trespassing” sign stolen from near a gate. The sign was found on the opposite side of the gate.

Police department

Tuesday, Jan. 16

12:32 p.m. Complainant reported there were narcotics in a mailbox. Upon investigation, it was found the items were legal over the counter medicines.

4:21 p.m. Report of an intoxicated female subject. The officer determined the subject was OK to stay at a residence rather than go to jail.

Wednesday, Jan. 17

8:23 p.m. Reporting party stated a subject in a parking lot could not get his vehicle in gear. George L. Jackson was later arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Thursday, Jan. 18

4:29 p.m. Report of a female subject who kicked a door jamb in and was yelling obscenities. Kayte M. Alvey was arrested for alleged breach of peace and property destruction.

6:16 p.m. Complainant reported a theft of a kayak. The item was located prior to the officer’s arrival.

6:47 p.m. REDDI report regarding a truck driving erratically. The suspect vehicle could not be located.

11:16 p.m. Report of a vehicle stuck in an intersection and its driver falling down. The vehicle was moved prior to the officer’s arrival.

Friday, Jan. 19

7:16 a.m. Male subject reported someone had moved his truck during the night. No items were missing.

10:33 a.m. Report of a vehicle striking a parked vehicle .

10:51 Driver passed a school bus with its lights on. The driver was contacted and given a verbal warning.

12:40 p.m. Lacey D. Raney was arrested on a warrant for alleged probation violation.

Saturday, Jan. 20

10:09 a.m. Report of three juveniles hanging out by the railroad tracks. The subjects could not be located, but it has been requested anyone caught near the tracks be cited for trespassing.

Sunday, Jan. 21

6:14 p.m. Call about a possible domestic fight. It was determined to be a verbal fight, but the involved parties were warned about the noise.

9:44 p.m. Report of drug related activity on Highway 20 South. A juvenile male subject was cited for possession.

Monday, Jan. 22

9:27 a.m. Gary D. Apland was arrested on a warrant for alleged probation violation.

7:15 p.m. Female subject reported someone was harassing her.

Macady Jane Olsen was born Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Powell Valley Healthcare to Jan and Russell Olsen.

She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 18.75 inches long.

Grandparents are Randy and Violet Olsen and Brian and Jane Robertson.

Ares Dylan Han-Solo Crees was born Monday, January 8, 2017, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Amanda Lee Eveland and Zenas Anthony Paul Crees.

He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long.

Grandparents are April Lombard, Ronald Eveland and Christine, O’brien and Brian Crees.

Jayden Ally Wurtz was born Monday, January 15, 2018, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Stacy Orton and Patrick Wurtz.

She weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 18 inches long.

Circuit court

Andrew G. Poss was bound over to district court on charges of manufacture or delivery of meth or narcotic controlled substance, possession of narcotic controlled substance, two counts of property destruction of $1,000 or more, leaving the scene of an accident, interfering with an officer an use of a controlled substance.

Emma J. Berry was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 45 days in jail with 45 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $255.

Kayte Alvey was found guilty of property destruction under $1,000 and breach of peace and was sentenced to 20 days in jail with 19 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.
