Fill the Boot campaign Monday

Members of the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department will be out on Labor Day at the stoplight and at 14th and Fremont with their boots out. This weekend marks the kickoff for the annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

People can stop by either of the locations to drop their contributions in the boots, beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. Fire Chief Mark Collins said the firefighters would be out until early afternoon. Last year the local campaign generated over $4,400.

The MDA works to free individuals, and the families who love them, from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life-threatening diseases that take physical strength, independence and life. Funds raised through 2017 Wyoming Fill the Boot events help MDA’s efforts to fund groundbreaking research and life-enhancing programs, such as state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers. They also help send local kids to a life-changing experience in an environment without barriers at MDA Summer Camp — all at no cost to their families.
