Students qualify for national rodeo

Two local students have qualified to compete at the world’s largest junior high rodeo. Jase Longwell, a seventh grade student from Thermopolis Middle School, and McCoy Longwell, a sixth grade student from Risen Son Christian School, have earned positions on the Wyoming National Junior High rodeo team and will travel to Lebanon, Tenn. June 18-24 to compete at the 13th annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo in ribbon roping, team roping, chute dogging and breakaway.

The Saturday championship performance will be televised nationally on RFD-TV. Live broadcasts of each NJHFR performance will also air online at NHSRATV.com. Performance times are 7 p.m. on June 18, and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day thereafter.
