Vialpando enters not guilty plea

Monday afternoon in District Court, Lola Vialpando pleaded not guilty to charges against her. Though initially charged with 10 counts of felony forgery, two counts of felony theft and one count of felony larceny, Vialpando was later charged with an additional seven counts of forgery and three counts of theft.

During proceedings Monday, it was indicated the two cases would be combined, and Vialpando would see trial on all 23. Though no date has been set for the trial, it’s expected to take four to seven days, based on possible stipulations regarding evidence.

The charges allege Vialpando altered bank statements at her former employer between Jan. 29 and July 29 of 2016, and also altered account statements to omit certain transactions. Charges further allege she used company issued credit cards to make over 300 online and local purchases totaling almost $19,000.

Also alleged is Vialpando’s forging of checks between January and August of last year and facilitating online and mobile transfers of money from her employer to satisfy personal debts.

The alleged actions resulted in a loss of over $250,000.
