The Fantasticks comes to town

The longest running off-Broadway musical, The Fantasticks, will be coming to Thermopolis Monday, June 19.

The Fantasticks will be presented as part of the University of Wyoming’s Department of Theatre and Dance Snowy Range Summer Theatre, which is now in its 65th year.

Directed by Kevin Inouye, The Fantasticks is a sunny, funny musical about love between a starry-eyed boy and the girl next door. They fall in love, grow apart and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth that, “without a hurt, the heart is hollow.”

Called the “perfect musical” by the Wall Street Journal, the Fantasticks have been entertaining audiences world wide since it opened off-Broadway at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in May, 1960.

Many of the songs from the production will be familiar, including “Try to Remember”, “They Were You” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain.”

The performance will be free to the public and begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
