Thermopolis Gun Club hosts state shooting competition Wednesday

Hunting and recreational shooting are some of the best things about Wyoming. In an effort to keep the western heritage of shooting alive, the Governor’s Office has implemented a series of shooting competitions at various locations throughout Wyoming.

The Thermopolis Gun Club will be hosting one of the competitions on Wednesday, May 24 at the Bob Milek Memorial Gun Range on Highway 120, about eight miles west of town.

The shoot will be from 4-8 p.m. The only fee will be that the shooter must have a Conservation Stamp.

Scores from the competition will be entered in the state-wide database to determine the top 100 shooters in each division throughout Wyoming.

Four divisions will be available: centerfire semi-automatic rifle, rimfire rifle, centerfire pistol and bolt-action centerfire rifle.

A complete list of rules for each division along with entry forms are available on the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s website at wgfd.wyo.gov. Simply look for Wyoming’s Top 100.

Thermopolis is one of only 10 ranges where the competition will take place and everyone is encouraged to participate. You do not have to be a member of the gun club to compete.
