County fire ban lifted

County Commissioner Brad Basse attended the Wyoming Airport Operators Association meeting in Cheyenne last weekend, accepting an award on behalf of Hot Springs County.

The Aviation Achievement award was given to the commissioners for the hard work and dedication they put in over the years to ensure the county had an airport not just for the present time, but for the future as well.

With cooler evening temperatures, residents will be happy to know Hot Springs County Fire Warden Dion Robbins recommended to the commissioners that the fire ban in the county be lifted.

Robbins said due to increasing humidity and fuel moisture, along with the cooler temperatures, there was no reason to continue with the ban.

The Shoshone National Forest, BLM and neighboring counties are all lifting their fire bans as well.

The commissioners approved a contract with Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) in the amount of $20,000 for the year.

The entities provide these funds to assure services to high-risk children.

In other business, the commissioners approved a utility license agreement for Doug and Cindy Wallingford, allowing them to bring electricity to a portion of their land near the Skelton Road and Cowboy Mine Road Intersection.

They also approved a renewal of a liquor license for Stones Throw Restaurant.
