Local candidates file for 2016 primary election

The 2016 primary election date will be Aug. 16, and several local individuals are running for various positions.

Running for Hot Springs County Commissioner are Republican candidates Joseph Casciato, Hub Whitt, Mike Chimenti, Phillip Scheel and Joe Martinez.

Running for 2016 Republican Precinct Committeemen and Women are Jamie George (Precinct 3/3), Jerry D. Williams (Precinct 1/1), Daniel Bravenec (Precinct 1/2), Jim Collins (Precinct 3/3), Kevin Dickey (Precinct 2/4), Toni Casciato (Precinct 1/2), Ellen M. Galyan (Precinct 1/1), Joshua Brown (Precinct 1/1), Patty O'Brien (Precinct 3/3), Benjamin W. Shidler (Precinct 1/2), Charles Curley (Precinct 1/2) and John Baird (Precinct 3/3).

Running for 2016 Democrat Precinct Committeemen and Women are Howard Samelson (Precinct 3/3), Suzanne Samelson (Precinct 3/3), Rex J. Clothier (Precinct 1/1), Pamela Elizabeth Straley (Precinct 1/2) and Brendan Byron (Precinct 1/2).

Running for council member for the Town of Thermopolis is Dusty Lewis.

Merle W. Moore and Jack Kuiper are running for council member for the Town of East Thermopolis.

The last day to register to vote at the County Clerk's office for the primary election is Aug. 2. Individuals may register at polls on primary election day with proper identification.
