New owners take over at Shorty's

Though the grand opening is still a few weeks away, Shorty's owner Debra Lackey has no plans to close the door in the meantime.

Lackey and her husband, Danny, took over the business April 16 from Cindy Ellison, who had Shorty's for 12 years prior. She expressed her appreciation to Ellison for the business opportunity, and to Amanda Moeller and the Economic Development Committee for information and literature on small business loans.

She further added it was nice to work with local banker Minnie Miller.

Lackey noted the business is more than just a "watering hole," and the kitchen is open Monday through Sunday, with Friday specials 5-9 p.m.

While no longer heading up Shorty's, Ellison will still be in the community. Lackey has catered with Ellison for a number of years, and plans to continue helping with bar events. Shorty's will also have beer wagons for the upcoming PRCA rodeo and Octobrewfest.

While Shorty's will stay fairly the same, Lackey is willing to try some new things. She welcomes everyone to stop by, call and message her on Facebook.

The grand opening is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 14. Lackey appreciates the community for showing their support.

"Danny and I are excited for this adventure and invite everyone to enjoy it with us."
