Health fair informs, entertains the community

The annual Kiwanis Health Fair was Saturday at Thermopolis Middle School with health care providers, health-conscious booths regarding food and lifestyle choices and interested residents all in attendance.

Senator John Barrasso said he has attended the health fair in Thermopolis for the last 15 years.

"I've been the medical director of the Wyoming Health Fairs for 20 years," he said. "As medical director, what we know is that the blood tests are very helpful in detecting problems early. As a doctor, I practiced medicine in Wyoming for over 20 years and early detection of problems is a way to lower the cost of care and help people live longer, healthier lives."

Also in attendance at the Health Fair was Josh Kendrick, the regional distributor for OMNIlife Science. Kendrick introduced a 3-D robotic joint-replacement technology that is now available in Thermopolis.

"This system allows a surgeon to do a 3-D modeling of a patient's total knee before they ever make a cut," Kendrick said. "We really need people to know that this technology is available here. The newest technology in joint replacement is right here in their hometown."

Kendrick said OMNIlife Science enjoys supporting small communities.

"We really like supporting these small towns and these small hospitals with the newest technology available," he said.

Ellen's Healthcare, a home-based company run by Ellen Galyan, introduced products she sells to help individuals maintain a healthy mind and body.

"We sell skin care products and sun protection that lasts a full eight hours in comparison to the usual products that have to be reapplied every two hours," Galyan said.

Galyan said she also sells products that prevent stroke, heart attack, Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure and blood clots.

"They're also discovering these products have even more benefits," she said. "It cleans your arteries out, increases your blood circulation, increases your energy and affects every system in your body that requires blood and oxygen."

Many other local agencies were in attendance at the Health Fair, including Paintbrush Dental, Red Rock Family Practice, Red Dirt Master Gardeners, Gottsche Rehabilitation Center, Sheriff's Officer Shawn Milek and Sergeant Jerimie Kraushaar showing the dangers of drug use and Wyoming State Trooper R. S. Henry showing the dangers of driving under the influence, among many others.
