Girls headed to Rocky Mountain

The holiday break is over and the Lady Cats are ready to get back into the game. While many students enjoyed a long break from classes and the school, the girl’s basketball team continued to hone their skills.

“We have had an excellent turnout during the holidays and the girls have been able to get a lot of skill work in plus we have been able to keep our team concepts fresh,” said Coach Cory Sova.

Coach Sova is impressed with the team’s determination, attributing it to the serious demeanor the girls approach schoolwork and learning with. “This carries over to the court. It is an extremely fun group to work with,” Sova commented.

Every single member of the team is important, individually they have a role that is central to the three teams.

The Lady Cats continue to focus on fundamentals as they enter this week’s game. “We will really be attempting to spend a lot of time on defense as well as doing a ton of shooting. We also need to spend some extended time working on offensive execution,” said Sova.

The upcoming Big Horn Basin Tournament at Rocky Mountain High School is going to be a good test for the Lady Cats, attempting to build on their five game winning streak.

Coach Sova states “We should get at least three games in and our junior varsity will also play a couple of games in the auxiliary gym. Our freshman will lace ‘em up at Buffalo on Saturday playing three games in a short amount of time.“
