Anderson presents program on oil and gas in the Big Horn Basin

Oil and gas fields in Hot Springs County and the future potential for oil and gas in the Big Horn Basin will be presented by Tom Anderson at the next meeting of Hot Springs County Historical Society set for Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Hot Springs County Museum at 2 p.m.

Anderson was born in Thermopolis, and after graduating from the University of Wyoming, he worked as a petroleum geologist in Casper from 1981 to 1993. After moving back to Thermopolis,he became the co-founder and co-owner of Gas Ventures, LLC from 1993 to 2015.

Anderson is retired from the oil and gas industry and is now the chief maintenance man for Russell Ranch.

Attendees will learn how the county fits into the big picture of oil and gas from the beginning of the twentieth century oil fields, including Gebo, to the current situation and condition of the oil industry in Wyoming.
