On the Record policy

It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, Dec. 25

6:36 p.m. Report of a white truck stopped on Highway 120 without any lights on. The vehicle was waiting for another vehicle with lights to escort them home.

Thursday, Dec. 24

8:07 p.m. A report of a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Maiden Street in such a way that no other residents could find parking. Law enforcement officials were unable to make contact with the driver of the vehicle.

Friday, Dec. 25

10:06 p.m. A report of fireworks being shot off in the area of Second and Broadway Street Christmas night, disturbing some of the local residents.

Saturday, Dec. 26

9:26 a.m. A call into the Law Enforcement Center of a ex-husband harassing his ex-wife through text messages. The party was advised to work this out through their lawyers.

11:46 a.m. An officer provided a civil standby as parents exchanged custody of their children.

4:48 p.m. An officer did a welfare check on a resident who was reported as being suicidal in the area of the 100 block of South D.

Sunday, Dec. 27

1:07 a.m. Report of someone in an apartment that should have been unoccupied. The officer determined the person in the apartment had permission to stay there while the occupant was gone.

7:36 p.m. An officer did a welfare check on a woman whose children were concerned about her wellbeing. The woman told the officer she would call her children and let them know she is fine.

8:46 p.m. An officer responded to a call for a welfare check in the 400 block of South Street from a female saying she could not get a hold of her ex-husband to say good night to their children. The officer made contact with the ex-husband, and he said he would have the children call their mother.

Monday, Dec. 28

11:42 a.m. Report of a theft of packages. The packages were delivered to the wrong home. The packages had allegedly been opened and re-gifted. The theft is under investigation.

Birth

Desmond Asher Ortega was born Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Deidria and Marco Ortega of Worland.

He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 21.5 inches long.

Grandparents are Alan and Lalene Dangel and Fred and Eva Vega, all of Worland.
