Hot Springs County Fair packed with events

The 2015 Hot Springs County Fair, “Kids-N-Kritters”, is about to get underway.

While the horse show has already taken place, there is still plenty of other action coming to fill the week-long celebration.

You may start your week at the fair with the dog show on Monday, July 27 at 6 p.m. on the grassy area to the east of the indoor arena.

Tuesday is move in day when exhibits must be brought to the 4-H building for judging from 8 a.m. til noon.

Shooting sports will follow at 1 p.m. at the north end of the indoor arena.

Plan on lots of laughs that night when pig wrestling kicks off at 6 p.m., also in the indoor arena.

On Wednesday all the livestock must be in their stalls by 7:45 a.m. including poultry and rabbits.

Weighing of the market goats will happen at that time, followed by weighing of other market animals, sheep, swine and beef, at 8 a.m.

The goat show will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday with the cat show at 10 a.m., rabbit show at 11 a.m. and the poultry show immediately following.

Youth will be showing their sheep at 3 p.m. with “Over the Hill” showmanship when they’re finished.

Everyone is invited to stop down at 7 p.m. for Family Fun Night, with food, games and more. There is also a pie bake off at 7 p.m. sponsored by the 4-H Junior leaders.

Swine showing starts at 8 a.m. on Thursday with another round of “Over the Hill” showmanship after the kids are done.

Come on down and vote for your favorite during the chili cook off Thursday night at 5 p.m.

Starting at 6 p.m. will be the beef show and “Over the Hill” showmanship.

There’s a full slate of events on Friday, too, starting with round robin showmanship at 10 a.m.

There will be a Parade of Champions at 1 p.m. and a mandatory State Fair meeting for county delegates going to State Fair at 2 p.m.

The pre-sale buyers dinner begins at 6 p.m., open to all those planning on buying at the Junior Livestock Auction.

The Judge’s Choice bake sale and Junior Livestock Auction will start at 7 p.m.
