It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Fire calls

Tuesday, June 30

3:48 p.m. Firefighters responded to a tree on fire at Highway 120 mile marker 42.

3:54 p.m. Firefighters responded to a grass fire at 2403 Kirby Creek.

Wednesday, July 1

6:38 a.m. Firefighters responded to a one vehicle rollover on Highway 20 North at mile marker 143.

Thursday, July 2

10:43 p.m. Firefighters responded to a motorcycle accident at mile maker 123 Highway 20 South.

Saturday, July 4

4:41 p.m. Firefighters responded to a grass fire in Kirby. While crews were out dispatch received word that the fire had been put out by the landowner. Responding crews continued to the scene to ensure that the fire was in fact completely out. The fire was about an acre and a half in size and did no damage to any structures.

At an unreported time, firefighters responded to a grass fire at 376 Rim Rock.

11:09 p.m. Firefighters responded to a grass fire at 320 Red Lane.

11:51 p.m. Firefighters responded to a grass fire at 770 Road 11.

Accidents

Thursday, July 2

10:18 p.m. A motorcycle crash south of Thermopolis claimed the life of a 61 year old Thermopolis resident Jacob Linn. The crash occurred on Highway 20 at mile post 122. Linn was traveling north on US 20 on a 1990 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he failed to properly negotiate a right hand curve in the road.

The motorcycle left the northbound lane, crossed the southbound lane and struck a guardrail. Linn was thrown from the motorcycle down an embankment and sustained fatal injuries on scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Speed too fast for the roadway is being investigated as the contributing factor in this crash. Linn marked the 68th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015 compared to 70 fatalities in this time frame in 2014.

Tuesday, June 30

11:21 a.m. Report of a person at Exxon Southside parking but forgetting to set the brake. The vehicle started to roll and an individual in the vehicle got out and the vehicle rolled over their leg. The injured party was transported to the hospital.

4:20 p.m. Gas drive off. The individual returned to pay for the gas.

Wednesday, July 1

3:03 p.m. A female called to report her soon-to-be ex-husband threatened her with a gun before moving to Worland. The woman did not wish to press any charges but wanted the incident on record.

Thursday, July 2

6:50 p.m. A vehicle collision with a deer was reported.

9:39 p.m. Someone reported missing a handgun but called back later to report finding it in their packed belongings.

Friday, July 3

7:56 a.m. An argument was reported between a landlord and a tenant. Landlord was requesting rent and tenant would not pay. A deputy arrived on the scene and advised the issue would have to go to civil court unless a compromise could be made. The tenant and landlord came to an agreement.

1:59 p.m. Report of a dog locked in a hot car with the window cracked. Deputies were unable to locate the dog and car.

10:02 p.m. A vehicle collision with a deer was reported.

Saturday, July 4

4:24 p.m. A possible drunk driver was reported. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

7:44 p.m. Someone reported their teenage daughter had snuck out of the house to see a boyfriend.

9:39 p.m. An intoxicated male was reported at the Exxon Southside. The intoxicated male said he was trying to walk to Riverton. Deputies arrived at the scene and asked the man to leave.

Sunday, July 5

10:23 a.m. Deputies provided an escort for subjects who were involved in a four-wheeler accident.

Monday, July 6

11:15 a.m. Someone reported an individual harassing them when they stopped outside their home in a car for about 10 seconds. The harassing party has a stalking order against them, but the deputy did not feel the driver was harassing them.

5:45 p.m. Report of kids riding motorcycles and creating excessive noise. Deputies were unable to locate the motorcyclists.

Police Department

Tuesday, June 30

10:59 a.m. Someone requested a trespass order to stay away from a residence on Canyon Hills Road.

3:50 p.m. A person reported receiving threatening texts from a relative. An officer made contact with the relative and asked them to stop or they would be charged. The relative agreed to stop.

3:55 p.m. A missing juvenile was reported. An officer found the missing person in the state park and returned them to their mother.

7:32 p.m. Report of two flower planters stolen from the side of a building. The planters were found by the chamber office and returned to owner.

Wednesday, July 1

8:22 a.m. Someone reported a camera stolen from their motel room, but the reporting party called back later because the camera was found.

10:47 a.m. Someone reported a possible theft of prescription medication from their home. No suspects have been identified.

11:00 p.m. Report of hearing a loud beeping noise and red flashing light from a gas station. An officer arrived and contacted the owner who advised it was a low fuel alarm and a truck was coming to deliver fuel.

Thursday, July 2

1:20 a.m. Siblings were reported having an argument in the front lobby of the law enforcement center. Officers advised the siblings to stop arguing and to call back if they had any other problems.

9:23 a.m. The owner of a motel reported someone who was staying at the motel stole four DVDs and a chicken out of the freezer. An officer received a description of the person but was unable to locate them.

3:32 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in a traffic accident when the driver of the first vehicle had a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle and hit the other vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to the hospital.

9:23 p.m. Someone reported damage to their vehicle on the right rear bumper and cargo hatch. The reporting party believed the hit and run happened at the high school parking lot.

Friday, July 3

8:01 a.m. Someone reported their car window broken. The reporting party believe the person breaking in was deterred by their dog in the car. No suspects have been identified at this time.

9:35 a.m. Report of a two vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

3:22 p.m. Report of a possible burglary at a business but it was later found out that the employee from the night before had forgotten to lock the door.

Saturday, July 4

10:47 a.m. Someone reported a business door was open. Officers contacted the owner and the business was checked but nothing appeared to be out of place.

2:13 p.m. Someone reported an individual stalking them in a business. The reporting party has a stalking order against the individual and when the individual entered the business they called the police department. An officer investigated the situation and sent a report to the county attorney’s office for review.

Sunday, July 5

12:51 p.m. House sitter reported that upon arrival to the house the front door was open but the handle was locked. An officer secured the residence and advised that with the change in humidity the door may have swelled.

1:27 p.m. Report of a doe with wire wrapped around its feet was bedded down near bushes and a large white camper. The call was referred to the game warden.

2:26 p.m. Someone reported a person in their neighborhood in a black SUV playing music too loud. An officer arrived and found a person cleaning their vehicle with music playing. The officer asked the individual to turn down their music.

7:52 p.m. Report of a domestic dispute. Officers arrived and found three people present and a husband and wife yelling at each other. The officer spoke to everyone involved and found no evidence of any physical abuse. The officer asked everyone to calm down and the couple agreed to separate for the evening.

Monday, July 6

2:08 p.m. Someone reported a broken window on the back side of their home that appeared to be shot by a BB gun. No suspects have been identified at this time.

2:18 p.m. Report of hit and run damage to a vehicle on the rear passenger side. The reporting party was unsure where or when the damage occurred.

3:28 p.m. Report of trespassing when another property owner crossed the reporting party’s property to access the back side of their property. An officer arrived but the trespasser had already left.

6:23 Someone reported seeing a child’s wagon and a gas can left in the parking lot of a business. An officer advised that they had seen someone mowing there earlier.

7:03 p.m. A woman reported her son trespassing at her residence and harassing her. She requested her son be served with a notice of trespass. An officer served the papers.

Circuit Court

Frank Lutz, after a hearing for sentence modification, was admitted for treatment and sentenced 320 days suspension with credit for 12 days. After release from treatment, Lutz was sentenced with an additional one year supervision.
