On the Record policy

It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, June 29

6:12 a.m. Firefighters responded to a one vehicle rollover on Missouri Flat Road.

Tuesday, June 23

12:12 p.m. Someone reported baling twine strewn across the highway. Deputy arrived and found baling twine in the ditch and picked it up.

2:20 p.m. A warrant arrest was issued for Brandon Boren, 29, for probation revocation in Carbon County. Deputy arrested the individual and made arrangements for his transport.

9:59 p.m. Deputies reported to an accident where a north-bound vehicle collided with another vehicle backing out of the turn around at the Big Spring in the state park. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, June 25

10:18 p.m. Someone reported a car and truck drag racing on Buffalo Creek Road. A deputy reported to the area but no vehicles were found.

Friday, June 26

6:29 p.m. Someone requested a welfare check for a woman and two small children walking by the highway near the Fountain of Youth RV Park. The reporter observed a truck pull over by the woman and the driver and woman appeared to have an argument. A deputy reported to the area but was unable to locate the truck or the woman and children.

7:30 p.m. A male reported receiving an odd text from his son asking for help but had been unable to get a hold of his son. A deputy located the son at his in-law’s home and upon arrival everyone seemed to be fine and confused why the deputy was there. The son was not aware of the text but said he would call and reassure his father that he was fine.

Saturday, June 27

12:00 a.m. A male from Worland called to report a driver of a black truck that he had words with earlier now following him and making him fear for his life. Dispatch instructed the caller to drive to the law enforcement center. The driver followed instructions but the black truck did not follow. The caller gave a description of the truck and a deputy searched for the truck but was unable to find it.

11:17 p.m. Deputies arrested Jonathan Moon, 20, and charged him with two drug violations, use and under the influence of a controlled substance, and driving under the influence.

Sunday, June 28

10:42 p.m. Someone reported a male individual had taken an intentional overdose of a sleeping medication. Deputies arrived and visited with the individual who was transported to the hospital.

Monday, June 29

6:13 a.m. A one vehicle roll over was reported on Missouri Flat Road. Deputies and ambulances reported to the scene and one person was sent to the hospital for injuries.

10:11 a.m. Dispatch received an assistance call for a dump truck stuck in mud and about to tip over at Anchor Dam access road. Deputies called for assistance.

11:35 a.m. Someone reported a tire blow out on a car south of town and thought the driver might need assistance. A deputy responded to the call.

5:18 p.m. Business owner reported someone filling up on gas and driving away without paying. Deputies contacted the owner of the vehicle. Owners said son had been driving and he would go back and take care of the bill.

Tuesday, June 23

12:44 p.m. Someone reported pulling out of a parking space by Thermopolis Cafe and heard tires squealing then a man yelling profanities. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Wednesday, June 24

9:45 a.m. Owner of a rental property reported a storage shed at a house was vandalized by the last tenant. Officer advised the landlord pursue action through civil court.

7:10 p.m. Tenant reported water running under the apartment. Officer found a hose connected outside with water running and shut it off.

10:18 p.m. Someone reported fireworks being set off. An officer reported to the location but was unable to find anyone setting off fireworks.

Thursday, June 25

6:42 p.m. Officer saw a male on probation purchasing alcohol. The report was sent to the county attorney.

9:07 p.m. A young girl was reported riding her scooter in and out of traffic. An officer located the girl’s mother and informed her of the complaint. The girl stopped the activity.

10:20 p.m. Someone reported a verbal argument between a husband and wife in the yard. An officer arrived and split the couple up. The male decided to find another place to stay for the night.

Friday, June 26

10:57 a.m. Someone reported two young males seen running away from their car and smoke coming out of the car. An officer responded and found the back seat was burnt. No suspects have been identified.

12:09 p.m. A bank in town reported receiving fraudulent emails from customers requesting to send money to a location in Washington. Customers have been notified and did not send the emails. The bank wishes to inform people that these type of emails have been more frequent and the bank will not approve sending money via email and requests that customers come in in person to send money.

6:11 p.m. Someone reported a black truck and camper blocking a roadway. When the officer arrived the truck and camper were gone.

6:43 p.m. Someone reported a flatbed semi parked along Broadway blocking visibility. Officer informed the caller that the semi is parked legally.

8:27 p.m. Someone reported a possible male drunk driver stumbling through Maverick convenience store. An officer arrived and found the individual to be intoxicated. Thomas Van Mun, 56, was arrested for driving under the influence.

Saturday, June 27

10:20 a.m. Someone reported being illegally passed on 8th Street. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Sunday, June 28

12:21 a.m. Someone reported two vehicles racing. Officers were unable to locate the vehicles.

9:32 a.m. Someone reported two boys banging sticks and hitting the side of the middle school. An officer picked up the boys and took them to their grandmother’s house. The grandmother guaranteed it would not happen again.

9:51 a.m. Someone reported loose dogs in their yard. An officer took the dogs back to the owner’s home.

11:52 a.m. Parents reported their 17 year-old got upset and left their home. An officer located the juvenile, calmed them down and returned to parent’s home.

6:27 p.m. Someone reported a dog left in a hot car. An officer located the vehicle and found the windows rolled down and the dog did not appear to be in distress.

9:07 p.m. Someone reported an open door at the Masonic Hall. An officer arrived, cleared the building, and contacted the proper people to secure the building.

10:07 p.m. Someone requested a trespass order on an ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend is located out of state and an officer was unable to make contact.

Monday, June 29

12:28 a.m. Someone reported fireworks being set off across the railroad tracks. An officer was unable to locate them.

7:40 a.m. An officer picked up two dogs and impounded them at a veterinary clinic. The owners will be issued a citation.

11:40 a.m. Someone reported prescription medications being stolen from their home. No suspects have been identified.

11:53 a.m. Someone reported an abandoned Winnebego. An officer stickered the vehicle as abandoned.

12:46 p.m. Someone reported their granddaughter missing. An officer located the granddaughter at the next-door neighbor’s home.

5:03 p.m. A landlord requested a trespass notice for previous tenants. An officer served the notice.

8:31 p.m. Someone reported their child being bitten by a dog while playing with friends. Current rabies vaccination is under investigation for the dog.

8:44 p.m. Someone reported an open door at the middle school. An officer searched the building and contacted the school district. Someone came to secure the building.

Circuit court

Patrick Little plead guilty on June 29 for interference with a police officer and received a $350 fine, $40 court cost fine, $150 victim compensation, 180 days in jail, 169 days suspended with one day credit, and one year supervised probation. He also plead guilty for reckless endangerment and received the same sentence.

John Baker had his pretrial on June 26 and received a $75 credit for time in jail and received a deadline of August 15 to complete payments of previous fines.

Thomas Van Mun has a pretrial set for July 15 following his arrest for driving under the influence.

Jonathan Moon has a pretrial set for July 13 following his arrest for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

Philip Lianzo has a jury trial set for November 23 following charges for simple assault.

Kayloni Good has an arraignment set for July 17 for her citation for simple assault.

Casey Bybee has an arraignment set for July 17 for his citation for simple assault.

Marriage Licenses

June 11 - Robert Winslow Hill Jr. 27, and Shannon Marie O’Keefe 31.

June 16 - Ryan Patrick O’Connor 34, and Cortney Breeann Thoren 27.
