Rendezvous Rodeo June 25-27

Pack up the family and head on down to the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds for the 2015 Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo June 25-27.

The action starts on Thursday, June 25 with the Chuck Mead Memorial Packhorse Race starting at 7 p.m. Get in on the Calcutta action starting at 6 p.m.

See the two-man teams race through the obstacles encountered in traditional horse or mule packing in this timed event. They have to pack a bedroll, pots and pans, a dutch oven, fresh eggs and a coffee pot, then ride the saddle animal through the obstacle course while leading their pack animal.

On Friday the gates will open at 4 p.m. with vendors selling any manner of items before the first PRCA rodeo performance of the weekend which starts at 7 p.m. Friday night will be “Patriotic Night” and folks are encouraged to wear their best red, white and blue.

A free pancake breakfast, open to the public, sponsored by Tumbleweed Propane, kicks off the full day of events on Saturday. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. at the fairgrounds.

At 8 a.m. there will be free rodeo slack performances before the Cowboy Rendezvous Rodeo parade, which starts downtown at 10 a.m.

Visitors can meet the rodeo queens at White Horse Country Store starting at noon or enjoy a drink at the Sarsaparilla Social at Thermopolis Hardware, also starting at noon.

Saturday night’s rodeo performance is the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” event in honor of breast cancer awareness. Pull out your pink and fill the stands at 7 p.m.

After the rodeo, put on your dancing boots and do a little scootin’ to the Rewinders.

To finish off the weekend, there will be Cowboy Church held at the fairgrounds starting at 9 a.m.
