School enrollment numbers hold steady

Enrollment numbers in Hot Springs County School District #1 have stayed fairly even during this second semester.

April’s numbers show a three-student difference from March in all grades, kindergarten through 12. However, there is just a two-student difference between April of 2014 and April of 2015, making enrollment steady for the year.

The biggest drop in students from last April to this April appears to be in the sixth grade where 59 students were enrolled in 2014, yet only 41 enrolled for April 2015, a difference of 18 students.

The second largest drop in enrollment is in the fourth grade where they went from 51 students in April of 2014 to just 39 students this April.

Tenth grade seems to be picking up the slack though with 13 more sophomores in class this April than the same time last year.

Numbers in third grade and in the junior class are also up, eight and nine students respectively.

Overall, there are 614 students registered in the district this month compared to 616 this same time last year.
