    The Hot Springs County Fair Board and Recreation Board are moving forward to install a digital sign at the fairgrounds in the same location as their previous sign. Fair Board Chairman Joe Martinez said, “As part of our discussions, we felt it was a positive benefit for both the rec district and the fair board, as well as the community, to have a digital sign up.” The cost for the five-foot high, 10-foot wide digital sign is $52,844.50.     At the August 23 Hot Springs County Land Use Planning Commission, in old business, the board members voted to untable the Maddock Minor Subdivision and Land Use Change application.     James “Jim” Richard Farmer, 91, passed away on August 25, 2023, at Hot Springs Health in Thermopolis, Wyo. He was born on December 22, 1931, to Oscar and Dorthea (Rinbey) Farmer in Powell, Wyo. Cremation has taken place and services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Thermopolis. The time has yet to be determined.     The Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources Commission will meet September 6-7 in Thermopolis. On September 6, the Commission will tour Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site near Hyattville, as well as Hot Springs State Park. On September 7, the Commission will meet at the Hot Springs County Museum, 700 Broadway Street, and hear a general update of the department, elect officers and discuss improvements at Buffalo Bill and Hot Springs state parks.
