  • Rodeo, People of the Earth Days highlight weekend

    Last week was plenty busy, with both the annual Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo and the People of the Earth happening. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Meri Ann Rush said the rodeo had excellent performances each evening - Friday and Saturday - and there were about 50 more participants than past years.     The proposed budget for the Owl Creek Irrigation District was approved by Judge Robert E. Skar on Monday, June 27. The budget calls for itemizing money to be raised by assessment against lands in the amount of $138,017.18 which is by assessment of $21.81 per acre against 4,378.89 acres of land in the Lower Area or Lucerne and Dempsey Areas at $4.58 per acre on 9,286.17 acres of land comprising the Upper and Middle Areas of the district.     A Popsicle Night for the Tee Ball players is scheduled for June 30, beginning at 6 p.m. at the baseball fields. Recreation Director Brad Morrison explained this is an end-of-year event for the Tee Ball team, and Popsicles will be handed out to the players. Baseball practices got underway at the end of May, with a total 58 signed up — 17 each in the Major and Minor leagues, 18 in Coach Pitch and six in Start Smart.     Gottsche is planning a Water Kickball Tournament throughout the month of July in Hot Springs State Park.     Tuesday evening, the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees approved two policies with regard to patient financial services. Prior to approval, Chief Financial Officer Shelly Larson provided a brief summary of each. The Financial Assistance Policy applies to all emergency and medically necessary care. It provides discounts for those determined to be eligible, and it is required to be widely publicized. The policy lays out that the hospital will provide uncompensated healthcare...

    The Wedding of the Waters access area, a popular boat ramp and public access point to the Bighorn River near Thermopolis, will be closed July 11-15 to receive much needed improvements.
