    At the June 20 Thermopolis Town Council meeting held at the Town Hall, during citizen participation, Kevin Simpson, President of the Golf Board, requested additional funds for the repair and maintenance of the golf course. Simpson explained that the course has aged and is beyond its life expectancy. There is also a need for a new pump at the pump house at the river.     The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department is preparing for their Independence Day fireworks show on Tuesday, July 4, beginning just after it becomes dark. The show should last between 20 minutes and they will shoot off of T-Hill. The launching area has been prepped and pyrotechnician Kevin Adams from Sheridan will return to guide the event.     Suzanne Samelson, President of Main Street Thermopolis, and her husband Howie, board member, presented their quarterly report to both the Hot Springs County Commissioners and to the Thermopolis Town Council on June 20 at their respective meetings.   • High water at Boysen causes temporary closures of a limited number of areas

    High water in Boysen Reservoir has caused flooding in areas and prompted park officials to temporarily close a small number of campsites and day-use areas. Portions of Tough Creek and Tamarask campgrounds have been affected by the flooding but other campgrounds remain open. Park staff have notified those with reservations affected by the flooding and relocated them to other campgrounds or canceled if necessary.     Beverly Jean Urwin McQueen, 86, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness Center following a period of declining health. Born March 12, 1937, in Lovell, Wyo., she was the daughter of John Edward (BUM) and Adele (St. Clair) Urwin.     Although the weather has not been favorable, the identification and control of mosquito breeding sites (water sources) is successfully underway. Hot Springs County Weed and Pest has treated areas in Kirby, Lucerne, Owl Creek and other areas. They have started setting up adult traps, to determine areas to be fogged.
